Meet Ms. Sherry.

Amanda is a licensed professional clinical counselor with supervisory endorsement. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies from Bowling Green State University and her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Toledo.

 

She has experience working with youth and adults in residential, community, and outpatient settings providing treatment for issues ranging from mild mental health concerns to severe and persistent mental illness. From this experience she became skilled at addressing a wide array of difficulties including stress, anger management, depression, anxiety, self-esteem, emotional issues, co-dependency, loss/grief, trauma, and relationship issues. She has an extensive training in the treatment of trauma.

Collaborative care and acceptance. 

Amanda enjoys helping individuals and couples achieve a more peaceful and balanced quality of life by helping them improve their mental/emotional well-being and relationships. She believes that the therapeutic relationship is the most important factor in a successful outcome and takes a collaborative approach to helping others achieve their goals. She strives to create a relaxed and accepting environment that allows individuals and couples to explore not only their struggles but strengths as well.

About her therapeutic approach.

Amanda believes that everyone is the expert of their own lives and should feel empowered to live authentically. She works with individuals and couples to develop a treatment approach that can best meet their needs and encourage improvement. She often uses mindfulness-based cognitive behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectic behavioral therapy, and the Gottman Method.
